Do I need to register with UNIC Athens Library?

University students are automatically registered with the library. Whereas faculty need to bring their current employment slip (from HR) and complete the library registration form. The library will issue the faculty member with a library ID card.

Is there internet/ WiFi service in the library?

The library provides computers, which are connected to the internet.

Free wireless access (WiFi) is also available in any part of the library.

How do I access electronic resources?

You have access to all electronic resources through our Library Website  24 hours a day, 7 days a week on and off-campus.

How do I borrow a book?

How can I obtain a copy of an item that cannot be loaned out?

Photocopiers are available in the library. Copies can be made either in Black and white or in colour.

What happens if I lose or damage a library book?

If you damage or lose an item, please report it immediately to the Circulation Desk by email library.athens@unic.ac.cy or by telephone +30 211 4447121, +30 211 4447122.

In case of damage, you will be asked to cover the cost of its repair or its replacement. Alternatively, if item is lost you be asked to cover the cost of its replacement and an additional processing fee of €17.

 

 

What happens if my personal details change or I move abroad?

Members of the library must notify the library of any changes to their personal details. You can contact the Circulation Desk by email library.athens@unic.ac.cy or by telephone +30 211 4447121, +30 211 4447122.

If you are moving abroad, please return all the items borrowed before you move. This is to ensure no fines are incurred.

How do I to perform searches (including print and electronic resources)?

Go on our Library website and click on library search box (UNIC Primo), which enables you to search most of the library's individual databases for print books, e-books, electronic articles, electronic journal and more from a single search box.

Alternatively, to search individual databases, please go to eCollections (A-Z).

How do I access e-resources using OpenAthens?

During your search (either by clicking on a database or the full-text link) a box will appear asking if you are a student/faculty or staff/health faculty. Select the appropriate option. You will be directed to a login page where you will need your UNIC email and password (the one given to you by the university). Further instruction can be found on the Off-Campus Access webpage.

Is the Library open during Public Holidays?

No, the library is closed during all public holidays but this does not affect your access to electronic resources. Please see Off-Campus Access on the Library Website for more information.
