Safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19

As of 28 September 2020, the library is operating under new regulations as outlined by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth. Under these regulations, the library provides both online and limited face-to-face services.

Library requests that all staff and users adhere to these measures so it can continue to support you and provide high quality services in a safe environment.

1.Opening hours

1. The Library opening hours will be: Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and Saturday 09:00 – 17:00.
2. Operating hours are evaluated periodically and users will be informed of any change.

2.Library building access

1. Users will be required to wear a mask at all times at all library areas.
2. Sanitisers will be available of users continued use at the library entrance and at the Access Control point.
3. At the Access Control point, everyone will have their temperature checked and masks are being worn
4. Users are required to uphold the 2 metre social distancing throughout the library
5. No access will be allowed for impromptu visits, public and external users
6. A UNIC ID card is required for entrance to the library building. First year students can use their current semester Registration Form and national ID card.
7. No food or drink are permitted in the Library.

3.Print collection access and borrowing

1. Print collections are assigned restricted access.
2. All borrowing steps will be performed by the librarians upon request, preferably by phone or email (+357 22842100, libithelp@unic.ac.cy). The books will be available for collection at the Circulation Desk.
3. Specialised print collections (e.g. architecture journals) can be accessed, upon request. All material must be handed will gloves, available at the Circulation Desk.

4.Returning print books

1. We strongly suggest the 24-hour drop-box be used for returning print books, which has been installed at the entrance of the library building.
2. Returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours, to eliminate any contamination. This may cause some delays for books to be processed back into the library system for which we apologise in advance.

5.Study area usage

1. A maximum of 57 people can occupy the study area at any time, which will continually monitored.
2. Users can book time-slot to use the study area at least 24 hours in advance, preferably by phone or email (+357 22842100, libithelp@unic.ac.cy). Three time-slots per day are provided Monday to Friday and two on Saturday. Time has been assigned between each slot for sanitisation:

6.Library tours and visits
